How Much Does Cosmetic Surgery Cost ?
We understand that for many patients, a huge consideration before any surgery is the price. To help you fully educate yourself on financial matters, we will go over the factors that will influence the plastic surgery cost. It is important for you to know the reasoning behind the cost of your surgery and what can influence it. At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, we always seek the best solutions for our clients.
The medical facilities, surgical assistant, surgeon and follow-up are all included in our fees. While we are not the most expensive clinic in Canada, our surgical prices are not the cheapest either. This is because quality treatment is our number one priority, along with your safety. To this end, the following is included in the cost of your surgery at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic.
The below fees are the starting prices, which can vary based on individual needs of each patient.
What Comprises the Base Fee?
Due to the nature of the surgery there are many tools, supplies and equipment that are used to provide you with the youthful and enhanced effects of your plastic surgery. This also includes your post-surgical wear.
The facility accreditation, location and type of clinic are also components of the price.
Which Factors can Change the Price?
Experience of the Surgeon
The more experience and education that a surgeon has will most likely be part of the reason as to why some doctors charge more than others. Surgeons that are just starting out in the field are gaining their skill set, so most likely their fee would be less than that of a surgeon who has over a decade of surgeries under their belt. Most might agree that they would want to pay the extra cost for a surgeon who has thorough training and background to get the results that they are looking for.
At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic our doctors are not just “general” cosmetic surgeons, but they are specialists in their chosen field. We hire only the best, and that is one of the reasons why there is a base fee to our surgeries. All of our surgeons have over 15 years of clinical operative experience; we know that our patients want the procedures done right the first time.
Before undergoing any type of plastic surgery anywhere, we recommend that you do some research. Any reputable clinic will have no problem providing satisfactory answers to a few questions, such as these:
- How experienced is the surgeon, i.e. how many procedures of this kind has the surgeon performed, and how recently?
- What types of accreditation does the doctor have? (Membership in “The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada” is a good sign; it not only ensures the proper qualification, but also that they have kept their training up-to-date)
- What kind of training & education does the surgeon have, and where and when was he/she trained?
- What kind of specialty does the surgeon have?
Type of Anesthesia
For certain types of anesthesia (such as for instance nerve block, epidural, spinal, IV sedation and general sedation), a board certified anesthesiologist must be present. Because of this, these types of anesthesia can sometimes be a little bit more expensive. However, in some cases a simpler method of locally injected anesthesia and topically applied solutions can be more than sufficient to ensure a completely pain-free procedure, which will help keep the fee of the surgery low.
For large body parts that are going to be operated on, a form of a general anesthesia will be administered. Some patients would prefer to have only a local anesthetic; however it is much more comfortable for the patient to be placed under general anesthesia. Toronto Cosmetic Clinic usually charges $1,000 for anesthesia for surgeries that are 1-2 hours in length. This may also range from $800 - $2,000 all based on how long the procedure is to be.
Hospital or Clinical Setting
Since plastic surgery is considered to be an elective and cosmetic procedure it is not covered by private insurance or provincial health care. Plastic surgeons that have their own practice will either operate in the hospital or they will have an accredited operating room in their clinic.
If for health reasons the surgery is better off to be performed in the hospital, this can influence the final cost. Hospital operative space is more costly than clinical space.
When you visit Toronto Cosmetic Clinic as a patient, you will appreciate the clean, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing interiors. More importantly though, is the functionality, layout and cleanliness of the operating rooms. We have paid the utmost attention to detail in order to facilitate successful, efficient, and safe surgical procedures. The operating suites have been created by specialists in operating room architecture, in close collaboration with the surgeons and nurses who actually work there. The suites are well organized, and large enough to ensure that we can comfortably fit all the required equipment, and to allow the staff to move about unencumbered so that they can perform to perfection.
Operating rooms are extremely infection-sensitive, and we do not take patient safety lightly. Our surgery suites are built in accordance with strict guidelines to ensure a sterile and pathogen-free environment. We are sure all patients would appreciate this factor to be a part of their surgical fee.
Combination of Treatments
This is the most determining factor of price variation between patients. Combining procedures vastly increases the total, overall surgical price, but when the fee is broken down it actually decreases each specific procedure fee. For example, some women may not only need a breast lift to achieve desired results, but will need a breast lift with implants. While the total cost of your breast surgery will be higher than just having either a lift or an augment done; the breakdown cost of each the lift and augment will be less than that if they were performed alone in two separate surgeries. In simpler terms, there is always a price adjustment for when procedures are done in the same surgery, as this reduces the amount of anesthesia and supplies needed overall. Your patient consultant at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic can discuss the exact fee for adding on additional procedures to your surgery.
Primary or Revision Surgery
Quite a few of our clients come to us requesting corrections after a procedure has gone wrong somewhere else. The fee of the procedure depends on the nature of the damage and how complicated the repair is. While we unfortunately cannot do this free of cost, we do our best to make it affordable.
Additional Costs after Surgery
Not all patients may be as fortunate to have a loved one take care of them while they recover. If you do not have a friend of loved one to stay with you after surgery, then you would need to hire private home care for the first 24 hours. Due to the nature of most procedures we do not want you to be left alone or drive for the first day after surgery. It is difficult to take care of yourself, so you will need to have someone by your side to assist you with going to the washroom, preparing your food and just to watch over you. Private home care is when either a Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse or Personal Support Worker can stay with you for a fee. The fee is usually based on the time needed, the qualification, and designation of the helper. At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic none of our procedures require an overnight stay.
Some clinics or hospitals have the option to provide an overnight stay for the first night after your surgery. The purpose of this is for additional monitoring and for those who do not have someone to take care of them for the first 24 hours after surgery. Based on whether your stay is in a clinical setting or in the hospital (even depending if your room is private or semi-private room) will affect the cost. Usually private rooms in a clinical setting are more pricey.
It is important to keep in mind that after the plastic surgery is done, some surgeries such as a breast lift or tummy tuck will have some sort of visible scarring. With time scars will fade, however in most cases there will be some noticeability of them. Some patients will be fine with the appearance of a scar; however other patients will want to minimize and fade them as much as possible. A combination of laser treatments and topical medical grade products (such as silicone sheets) will be your best weapon to battle scars, but do come at an additional cost. This is something to consider when you are planning to proceed with your surgery. At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic we have a reward point system. Many of our patients use the points that they have accumulated through the plastic surgery cost to help pay for the cost of any scar reduction procedure.
There are financing options available at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic. A loan is provided, so you can move forth with your surgery today, instead of far in the future. We look at your credit score and history- the process is smooth and easy. Once you are approved, you can book your surgical date and payments are made on a convenient monthly basis.
Pricing for breast augmentation surgery is $7,000 (including general anesthesia) plus tax. Regardless of the implant size or style, the cost stays the same. Only if you choose a saline implant, will the price decrease. Usually though, the benefits of cohesive gel implants outweigh the added cost, and most patients choose gel implants.
Abdominoplasty starts from $8,000 (including general anesthesia) plus tax. In some cases where only very minimal correction (mini tummy tuck) is needed this can decrease the price. Many patients decide to add liposuction to remove the fat from the love handles for a well contoured abdomen. Liposuction is an additional $1,500 - $2,500, based on the area.
Eyelid Surgery Cost
For either the set of upper eyelids or the set of Lower Eyelids, Blepharoplasty is $4,000 plus tax. If you want to combine the set of Upper and Lower Eyelids together in one surgery, then pricing starts from $7,500. The surgery is performed under a local anesthesia, however if patients prefer a general form of anesthesia then this will increase the price.
At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, hymen repair cost is $2,800 under local anesthesia. If it is performed with labia reduction or vaginal tightening this will decrease the cost portion of the hymen procedure.
Pricing for a Breast Lift at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, is $8,000 (including general anesthesia) plus tax. The type of breast lift you choose will not affect the price. If you decide you want to have a breast lift with an implant, or add additional procedures, this will increase the overall surgical cost, but decrease the individual fee of your breast lift.
Fat grafting to the buttocks starts from $6,500 and can have a wide variation because some patients only need or want to have more fat extracted. Taking fat from multiple areas will allow for a more pronounced result. In most cases, patients need at least 2 areas of liposuction, thus realistically the price range for Brazilian butt lift is from $8,000 - $12,000.
Labia reduction is usually a standard cost of $4,200 when a local anesthesia is used. Adding more female refinement procedures can increase the total cost of surgery but decrease the labiaplasty portion. This will ensure a total rejuvenation of your most intimate area is achieved.
At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, a facelift starts from $15,000 in pricing. The final fee is determined upon if the procedure is to involve, the lower half, neck, mid, or the full face. The base price is based on the expertise of the surgeon, and the how intricate the surgical procedure is.
The price of liposuction starts from $3,500 at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic. The majority of patients decide to undergo a laser assisted form (SmartLipo) due to smoother results and reduced downtime. We charge $1,000 for SmartLipo, but the benefits you will gain from this method will outweigh the added fee. Anesthesia and adding additional areas for liposuction will also influence the price.
Vaginal tightening is $4,700 when performed under general anesthesia (which is preferred in most cases). Adding additional female refinement procedures such as labiaplasty, will decrease the vaginoplasty cost portion of surgery. If surgery is secondary/ revision vaginoplasty, then the price may be less, all depending on the amount of correction needed.
Ear pinning at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, is $5,000 plus tax. This is for correction of both ears under general anesthesia. If your concern is only for one of your ears, the fee of your surgery will be less. Our surgeon also corrects stretched & torn earlobes in which the cost is determined by the amount of correction needed, but starts from $500.
