Our laser can also be used on larger areas of skin, such as the neck and chest to tighten, plump, exfoliate and correct, with better results than many other treatment methods. Fotona SP Dynamis
This machine is not just any laser. The Fotona SP Dynamis system is one of the most advanced non-surgical lasers on the market, and represents the new generation of laser technology. The SP Dynamis, allows for unparalleled versatility in the types of procedures that can be performed, in addition to precision, speed and comfort.
Using its non-ablative mode (Nd:YAG laser) this stimulates the tissues to promote circulation and to activate the tissues own restorative functions. The Nd:YAG can also be used to produce a slight thermal heating of a the very top layer of the skin, to create a skin-resurfacing effect and remove wrinkles, while in conjunction stimulating deeper tissues for collagen matrix regeneration.
By utilizing different light-frequencies and conductors that concentrate the radiation of light, these light-beams interact with your tissues in different ways to produce different types of results. The settings are extremely precise, and can be adjusted with immense accuracy. As a result, we can control exactly where and how deep into the skin the treatment is applied, and what effect the treatment has. The various types of light-pulses are adjusted to produce a wide range of beautifying, corrective, rejuvenating and healing results.
The Fotona SP Dynamis uses the power of pulsed light at a specific wavelength (1064nm) to gently coagulate fractional areas of the tissue in the dermis and hypodermis, the layers of the skin beneath the top layer known as the epidermis. The light emitted by the device is in the shape of columns which allow to deeply heat the targeted soft tissue, thereby initiating the body to generate new tissue. It is this process, known as soft tissue coagulation, that results in the tightening of lax skin in any area of the body and face. The depth at which the light extends can be modified according to the targeted site, measuring up to 2mm into the dermis.
As a result, faster healing typically occurs. The short recovery time makes the SP Dynamis the current leader in laser skin tightening, a great alternative to more invasive surgical methods.
Your Treatment at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic
Just like with any procedure, beforehand you will have a consultation to determine that laser skin tightening is the correct procedure for you. From there you will meet with our medical esthetician where she will give you a consent form and take some photos, so you can see just how much your skin will improve over time. Your face will be thoroughly cleansed and safety goggles will then be applied.
During the procedure, you may experience some degree of warmth in the area that was treated, however it is very tolerable. A cooling system is attached to the device that protects the skin from the heat of the pulsed light before, during and after each exposure. This Advanced Contact Cooling system keeps the epidermis and upper dermis unscathed. During the procedure you may feel some tingling as the goal is to heat the skin to 39 degrees celsius, which is the optimum temperature to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Once the skin reaches this temperature, the laser will be turned off to allow your skin to start its natural regeneration process. You will still some heat and tingling in the skin which is completely normal. This sensation will go away within 24 hours maximum, depending on the sensitivity of your skin.
To achieve optimum results from laser skin tightening, it is recommended that you undergo a series of sessions with treatments spaced several weeks apart. The body’s response to treatment is to generate fresh, new tissue that is tighter and firmer, however this is a natural and gradual process therefore results will appear with time.
What to Expect After
There is very minimal downtime after treatments. You are able to return work and to most of your daily routine activities right after treatments. The only thing to be avoided for 24 hours is activities where you will sweat, along with hot tub and swimming pool exposure. Your skin might be red with some minor irritation for maximum day or so, but most patients report the redness to disappear within an hour from the treatment. It is important to always wear a minimum SPF of 30 to protect your skin of future damage.
While each laser has a full range of applications and can be used individually for amazing results, the combination of the two increases the treatment options exponentially. We are able to offer you the most versatile and customized beautifying and corrective experiences ever; perfectly suited to your specific skin type and expertly tailored to your desired results. When you come in for a consultation, our skin-care specialist will provide you with a skin analysis, and together you will develop a treatment plan, designed to target your specific skin concerns and tailored to your desired aesthetic results.

When will I see the results?
Results take time to see and are cumulative after each treatment. Since the procedures are based on your skin’s ability to rejuvenate itself this does take some time. Final results can take up to 6 months after the last treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions is based on the area to be treated and the severity of your skin. It is advised that all patients have a minimum of 6 sessions. Your medical aesthetician at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic will be able to let you know of a better approximation.
What are alternative/similar treatments?
Other non-surgical treatments are fractional non-ablative treatments, where an added benefit to the treatments is skin tightening. A combination of Dermal Filler and BOTOX COSMETIC® can also help improve the appearance of lax skin and smooth out fine lines. If you are looking for a surgical option, then a facelift would be the answer.
Is it painful?
Treatments are quite tolerable and a numbing agent is not needed prior to the treatment. After, your skin may feel a bit sensitive, but a cold compress will help.
How tight can the skin get on the body after treatments?
In some cases where patients have too much extra skin from pregnancy or weight loss, a laser procedure will not give them the type of results that they are looking for. Surgery will be the best option.
What are the possible side effects?
Most patients will have a bit of redness after the treatment, however this will dissipate after several hours, maximum up to one day. Tingling sensation may be felt as well.
Are there risks to the treatment?
Risks can occur such as burns from the laser, scarring, or hyperpigmentation. Most risks occur when the pre and post-treatment protocol is not followed by the patient, and these risks can be avoided. Sun exposure is always recommended to be avoided.
