Dr. Behnaz Yazdanfar is a premier Toronto doctor based in North York, Ontario, Canada. Leading a dedicated and professional staff at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, she focuses on surgical and non-surgical cosmetic surgery procedures, having performed cosmetic procedures since the year 2000. She frequently performs breast augmentation and liposuction, as well as several other aesthetic procedures.
Dr. Yazdanfar is a physician, in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Although Dr. Yazdanfar initially started her career as a general family physician, she elected to devote her career to cosmetic medicine. She underwent extensive training in the area of cosmetic medicine and cosmetic surgery, including didactic lectures, live surgery workshops, proctorship, working with and training under renowned experts in the field.
In 2002, in accordance with College’s “Change of Practice” requirements, Dr. Yazdanfar was assessed by the College and her change of scope of practice was approved. This assessment entailed an involved review of her training and on-site attendances and observations with respect to her performance of cosmetic surgical procedures by two different College surgical consultants. College peer review of her surgical practice and premises have “conformed to good practice.”
She has an impressive resume with extensive experience, educated at the University of Toronto for undergraduate studies then graduating from the University of Ottawa in 1994 with a Doctorate of Medicine. Residency brought her back to the University of Toronto, after which she has continued to travel extensively to keep up to date with the latest advances in cosmetic surgery. In recent years she has traveled to Dubai, France, Italy, Austria, and the USA for a string of conferences and symposiums dedicated to the field, as well as has attended several live cosmetic surgery workshops.
She has been trained by the leading surgeons in the world including Dr. Patrick Lillis, one of the world masters in tumescent liposuction, Dr. Giorgio Fischer, the Italian surgeon who invented liposuction with his father, Dr. Lisborg, the president of the Austrian Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and Dr. Fournier the famous French surgeon and one of the pioneers of liposuction. Dr. Yazdanfar has also been trained by Dr. Robert Jackson, the former president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and current board examiner for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. In 2005, she performed surgery with Dr. Jackson in the surgical centre of Toronto Cosmetic Clinic.
Further expanding her knowledge in liposuction methods, Dr. Yazdanfar is the first physician in Canada to be educated and trained in the newest method of laser assisted liposuction today, Smartlipo. She is the most experienced physician in Canada to perform Smartlipo according to the manufacturer of Cynosure (as of Dec. 2007), and has begun training other physicians in the technique.
Toronto Cosmetic Clinic is the first aesthetic clinic in Canada to be certified in offering Smartlipo in the country according to Cynosure.
Toronto cosmetic surgeon Dr. Behnaz Yazdanfar is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery, the Canadian Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery Inc.
