UltraShape® Technology

UltraShape® is a fabulous new way to get rid of that stubborn fat without surgery. Approved by Health Canada as a medical device in May 2007, UltraShape® is a patented system that delivers a unique form of ultrasound technology to effectively reduce the size of love handles, saddlebags and pot bellies.

What is ultrasound?

Ultrasound allows us to see things inside of our bodies by using sound waves at a frequency higher than the limit of human hearing. Most people are familiar with ultrasound when it comes to creating the image of a fetus during pregnancy.

High-frequency sound waves can also generate heat and facilitate healing when directed deeply into muscles and soft tissue, thereby acting as a treatment for specific problems, such as muscle bruises.

The UltraShape® Contour I Ver. 2 System

There are currently two models of the UltraShape® device. At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, the newest model is used: Contour I Ver. 2 System. This is known as the most advanced noninvasive fat reduction technology available today.

Focused ultrasound energy is directed deep into the subcutaneous fat layer.

The UltraShape® transducer converts electrical energy into focused therapeutic ultrasound energy. This converted energy is then delivered at a specific depth to disrupt fat cells in the subcutaneous fat layer of a targeted area.

Destruction of unwanted fat cells is performed without invasive tactics by mechanical, not thermal, energy, so surrounding tissues and blood vessels remain unharmed. In addition, the safeness and effectiveness of the device is further ensured by an integrated acoustic contact sensor. This feature provides instant feedback regarding the proper and efficient delivery of focused energy to the targeted area.

Advanced tracking and guidance software enables the system to achieve smooth and uniform results, something that liposuction sometimes cannot. This software allows the targeted area to be displayed in 3D on a computer screen, so that the medical professional or technician performing the procedure can see the areas that should be treated. The system also prevents the treatment of any area that has already been exposed or should not be treated.
