Tell me more about UltraShape®.

UltraShape® is a nonsurgical method of fat removal. Utilizing ultrasound energy, stubborn pockets of subcutaneous fat are targeted. Unwanted fat cells are disrupted and then dispersed so that the body may naturally reprocess them as energy or to be used for other functions.

UltraShape® does not harm surrounding nerves, muscle, collagen or other tissue in the targeted area. It can be performed following liposuction.

Who can undergo UltraShape®?

Basically, any man or woman who wants to get rid of stubborn deposits of fat that cannot be eliminated by regular exercise and diet. Please note that UltraShape® is not a method of weight loss. For your safety, a specific amount of fat may be required in the targeted area and your BMI may be measured prior to the procedure. A BMI of under 30 is required.

Who cannot undergo UltraShape®?

The procedure may not be suitable for those with specific hereditary diseases, high cholesterol, or cardiac disease. The patient consultant will provide more information during your complimentary consultation.

UltraShape® vs Liposuction?

For decades, liposuction has been the most popular choice in North America and around the world for the removal of subcutaneous fat, including stubborn fat in the hips, flanks, thighs and abdomen. It is an effective treatment that achieves results that last as long as a healthy lifestyle is followed. However, because it is a surgical procedure, it involves side effects and risks that are related to the technique as well as the administration of anesthesia. There is also a period of recovery (known as "downtime") that may require time off from work or other normal activities.

UltraShape®, on the other hand, is not a surgical procedure and few, if any, side effects and risks have been recorded. There is no downtime involved and patients can return to normal activities immediately after a session. Because the treatment has been described as painless, anesthesia is not required, eliminating the side effects and risks related to it.

UltraShape® is ideal for those who cannot take the time off from their normal routine to undergo cosmetic surgery for unwanted fat removal. Sessions can be done during a lunch hour, typically taking anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.

While liposuction typically requires only one procedure to obtain desirable results, UltraShape® normally requires up to three.

What areas can be treated?

UltraShape® is designed to focus on the abdomen, flanks and thighs.

What type of anesthesia is required?

No anesthesia is required since the procedure is virtually painless! In fact, many patients have reported it to be a comfortable experience.

Tell me about the procedure.

The procedure will take place after an initial consultation with a medical professional to ensure UltraShape® is suitable for you.

Photos will be taken so that you may measure your progress. You will undergo a brief examination, during which the area to be treated is measured and marked. A handheld device is then used to deliver the ultrasound energy over the area. The length of treatment depends on the extent of correction desired and the number of areas targeted.

The device is equipped with advanced tracking technology so that the resulting contour in the treated area is smooth and even.

As the transducer passes over the body, there may be a light tingling sensation or warmth.

What about recovery?

Right after your session, you'll be able to resume regular activities immediately.

Because the disrupted fat is naturally processed by the body's mechanisms, it is best that patients follow a healthy diet and regular exercise program following each session to achieve ideal results.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the extent of correction desired. Usually, three treatments may be required although your specific situation may require more or less. Each session is scheduled on a monthly basis. This allows the body to to naturally reprocess the disrupted fat cells.

Other areas on the body may be targeted during this time.

Unless fat deposits accumulate or weight gain is experienced, no follow up or maintenance sessions are required.

When will I see the results?

Generally, you'll notice an improvement in the area treated after about 3 weeks. However, this may vary depending on your body and lifestyle.

What results can be achieved?

In trials, UltraShape® achieved a reduction of 2cm in the circumference of a treated area after a single session! The treated areas included the abdomen, love handles and outer thighs.

How long do the results last?

You'll have lasting results if you follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen.
