|Liposuction and Your Body Type
Liposuction is performed on hundreds of thousands of people around the world every year. For men and women, it is often the most effective and efficient way to get rid of unwanted fat.
Liposuction helps individuals achieve a body contour they couldn't get through normal dieting and exercising. Fat cells on specific parts of an individual's body may be harder to control through a healthy lifestyle because they are not part of tissue that is as metabolically active as that of in other areas. That's why, unfortunately, concentrating on problem areas through exercises specifically designed for them may not work.
Gynaeoid and Thyroid Body Types
For example, people whose bodies are naturally bottom heavy may find that no matter how many squats and other toning exercises they do, fat still appears on their hips, thighs and buttocks. Fat may also appear in the form of cellulite. People (i.e. mostly women) who have a gynaeoid body type will find this to be unique to them.
Long and lean, people with a thyroid body type have a high metabolism and do not gain weight easily. However, if any weight gain does occur, it is generally concentrated in the buttocks and thighs.
Android Body Types
For most men, the first place they see weight gain is in their stomachs and sides. This may also occur in women, generally as they approach a menopausal age. Known as the android body type, fat settling in the abdomen area is of a different quality than that of fat settling in the thighs and buttocks. As a result, this type of fat can contribute to high blood pressure, diabetes, and even heart disease. Therefore, it is particularly important that excess fat in this area be controlled.
Lymphatic Body Types
People who experience weight gain throughout the whole body equally are known to have a lymphatic body type. Cellulite may appear in any area of the body. Exercise and a healthy diet may help fend off excess fat, though a slow metabolism may hinder efforts.
The pattern of weight gain for each body type may assist in determining if liposuction can help achieve the body contour desired.
