Surefire Ways to Get Rid of Body Odour

No matter how much you try to cover it up, the bottom line is that body odour stinks – both literally and figuratively. Perspiration itself is odorless but when it reacts with bacteria on your skin, it can cause an unpleasant smell. If you want to get rid of body odour, it’s a good idea to attack the problem from different directions.

Practice Good Hygiene

It’s essential to bathe at least once a day or even twice a day if you have a chronic body odour problem. Use antibacterial body soap and never re-use wash cloths in the shower. Skin cells, oil and sweat accumulate on wash cloths so re-using them can make your skin more hospitable for body odour-causing bacteria.

Lead a Healthy Lifestyle

In order to get rid of body odour, eat a whole foods diet and avoid alcohol and tobacco. Foods that are notorious for causing body odour include garlic, onions, spicy food, processed food, fried food, caffeinated drinks, red meat, and refined sugar. Some people have a hard time processing choline, a nutrient found in foods like eggs, liver, beans, and fish that can cause a fishy body odour. Magnesium, calcium, and zinc deficiency can also lead to body odour problems.

In addition to eating well, make sure to get plenty of exercise. Exercising allows you to sweat more so you can clear your pores and flush out toxins. As an added benefit, exercise reduces stress, which can lead to body odour. You can also sit in a sauna or hot tub to sweat and flush out toxins. Make sure to stay hydrated whenever you sweat heavily.

Other easy ways to keep body odour at bay is to shave your under arm and genital areas. Excessive hair makes it easier for bacteria to flourish and harder to apply deodorant. Don’t wear clothing more than once and avoid wearing clothing made of synthetic fabrics. Wear clothing made of light, breathable cotton instead.Change and wash your bed linens at least once a week.

Use Products that Treat and Prevent Body Odour Most people use deodorant, antiperspirant, or a combination of the two in order to get rid of body odour. Most antiperspirant products contain aluminum chlorohydrate, which stops sweat by clogging pores and sweat glands. This may serve as a temporary solution but eventually when the antiperspirant wears off, all of the built up sweat and toxins will be released.

There are several natural products you can use to stop sweat and get rid of body odour without disrupting your body’s natural detoxification process. Apple cider vinegar makes your skin inhospitable for odour-causing bacteria because of its low pH. A paste that consists of baking soda mixed with a little water can be very helpful in eliminating body odour. Simply apply the paste, let it sit for a few minutes, and then rinse it off. Natural (aka Thai) crystal deodorant is made of crystallized potassium sulfate and other mineral salts that absorb sweat and eliminate body odour-causing bacteria. Lemon and lime can also help you get rid of body odour because of the acidic properties of citrus fruit.

Whether you have a chronic body odour problem or you just want to get rid of the occasional stink, there are several natural ways to control body odour. Make simple changes to your daily routine, use natural products, and lead a healthy lifestyle in order to get rid of body odour from the inside out.
