Aging is a process many of us dread undergoing. Our skin begins to sag, wrinkles appear in places where only smoothness was, and our face begins to look tired even when we're not. Even senescence, the scientific term to describe the deterioration of an organism from age, sounds scary. That's why at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, people express the most interest in BOTOX® Cosmetic injection treatments.
BOTOX® Cosmetic, offered at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, is a non-surgical procedure to treat wrinkles and creases in the forehead/eyebrow area of the face. These wrinkles are also known as glabellar lines.
Glabellar Lines
In facial anatomy, the muscles that help move the brow are situated around the eyebrows and in the forehead. The corrugator supercilii are the small muscles that are set deeply in the skin, starting from the beginning of the eyebrows near the nose. Fibres of this muscle then spread out laterally, and are responsible for moving the eyebrows downward and toward the nose. Any furrows on the forehead that appear vertically are also a result of these muscles.
Directly near the corrugator supercilii is the sphincter muscle, the orbicularis oculi. This muscle, responsible for allowing the eyes to blink and close, is situated at the eyelids, on the temple of the head, and some parts of the cheeks. With age, this muscle causes the formation of "crow's feet".
The actions of these two muscles are directly responsible in the formation of glabellar lines. The contraction of these muscles causes the overlying skin to crease, and because the elasticity of skin weakens with age, this results in the formation of a wrinkle.
By receiving a BOTOX® Cosmetic injection at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, glabellar lines will be eliminated or reduced as the drug targets the responsible muscles to relax them. Preventing the muscles from contracting will allow the overlying skin to smoothen out, restoring your youthful appearance. Placement of the injection will not be closer than one centimetre above the middle of the eyebrow, and the amount will be determined by the experience and knowledge of your cosmetic surgeon.
The results of one injection with BOTOX® Cosmetic will normally last about 3 months. If you discontinue treatment, your muscles will return to their original state before treatment. As a result, there are no irreversible effects of BOTOX® injections.
You don't have to dread the effects of aging anymore. Contact Toronto Cosmetic Clinic for more information on BOTOX® Cosmetic injections in the Toronto area by calling 416-221-5554.
