Tell me more about LVR®.

LVR® is a patented procedure that corrects the “looseness” of the vaginal area to enhance sexual function. This is done by improving control and strength, decreasing the diameters of the vaginal orifice and building up the perineal area with the assistance of a laser. It can also improve the aesthetic appearance of the targeted area (aesthetic improvement may also be achieved with Designer Laser Vaginoplasty®).

The procedure lasts about an hour, however the exact length of time depends on the extent of correction. Anesthesia is adminstered.

How is it different from other methods of vaginal tightening surgery?

The procedure utilizes specific laser techniques that have been adapted from surgery to correct female stress urinary incontinence. Compared to most other methods of vaginal tightening surgery, LVR® minimizes or eliminates blood loss, with patients resuming daily activities faster due to a shorter recovery period. Results generally appear sooner as well. Only select physicians who have trained in the unique techniques of LVR® and have been certified by the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute® of America may perform the procedure.

Who is this designed for?

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation® is designed for women who are unhappy with their vaginal muscle tone and how it affects sexual gratification. It can also help with stress urinary incontinence. Poor vaginal muscle tone and vaginal relaxation may be caused by age, pregnancy and childbirth or other trauma.

Tell me more about the procedure.

Performed on an outpatient basis at the state of the art operation room of Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, LVR® involves a laser to perform accurate incisions. The vaginal muscles and support tissues are tightened (excess tissue may also be removed). The procedure is relatively bloodless .

Why is this believed to improve sexual performance?

According to a study conducted by scientists William H. Masters, M.D. and Virginia E. Johnson, it was found that a female's sexual gratification is directly related to the level of frictional forces created. As a result, tightening and strengthening a female's genital structures to produce more friction can enhance sexual performance.

When can I resume having sexual intercourse after the procedure?

About 6 weeks after surgery.

How long does it take to recover following LVR®?

While full recovery usually takes about 6 weeks, you may return to most forms of employment in about a week. Postoperative instructions provided to you by your physician should be closely followed in order to facilitate the healing process.

Does it hurt?

Since the surgery is performed under anesthesia, little to no discomfort is felt during the procedure. Once the anesthesia wears off (after about 18-24 hours), some amount of discomfort may be felt. Analgesics and cold packs applied to the area may help. Your LVR® physician can recommend ways to alleviate discomfort.

I'd like to get Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation®. How much does it cost?

LVR® starts from $4500. Financing is available.

What are the risks?

Like any surgical procedure, Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation® has its own set risks. While it is safe, risks include hemorrhage, infection and scarring as well as complications related to the administration of anesthesia. Intercourse may be painful when the area is over corrected.

How long do the results last?

The procedure achieves permanent results, but childbirth, trauma and aging can adversely affect them.
