Before and After Labioplasty at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic

For women who have undergone labioplasty (also spelled labiaplasty) at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, the result of the procedure may help them reclaim their self esteem, improve self confidence and alleviate the discomfort that arose from large labia. However, like any other cosmetic surgical procedure, women undergoing labiaplasty will be advised to follow specific instructions outlined by their cosmetic surgeon.

We've provided a few basic instructions below.

Before Labiaplasty at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic

Your cosmetic surgeon at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic will ask you to refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol for a few weeks prior to your scheduled labiaplasty. Any foods or medications that prevent the blood form coagulating should also be avoided, such as aspirin and excessive amounts of garlic.

If you are unsure or have any concerns, make sure you speak with your cosmetic surgeon during consultation.

After Labiaplasty at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic

The outpatient labiaplasty procedure at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic will take up to an hour, but entirely depends on whether it is performed simultaneously with another procedure improving the genitalia. Afterwards, some swelling may occur accompanied with minor bruising and pain. This may last for a few days, and will be at its worst in the first few days following surgery. To alleviate discomfort, medication can be prescribed by your cosmetic surgeon and cold compresses applied for swelling.

After 24 hours, you will be able to take a shower. Cleaning the area gently with soap and water will prevent infection. You may be asked to wear a sanitary napkin (a light one) for about a week, and to refrain from sexual activity for up to a month or two. However, many women return to work, if it is not physically strenuous, within a day or two. Most of the sutures will gradually dissolve, and any scars will be well hidden in the natural folds and creases of the genitalia.

Please note that like any surgical procedure, there are some risks involved with labiaplasty. However, choosing a qualified Toronto based cosmetic surgeon with good knowledge of the female anatomy and lengthy experience in performing labiaplasty will dramatically decrease the chances of any risk occurring.
