The Contour Threads™ Lift Procedure

Once you and your cosmetic surgeon have decided that a Contour Threads™ Lift will achieve the desired changes to your facial contour, you will receive a list of instructions to follow to prepare for the procedure.

The Contour Threads™ Lift Procedure is minimally invasive. This means that you may have to alter your lifestyle slightly in order to prepare your body for the surgery, and to facilitate healing. This may include refraining from smoking and drinking alcohol, and maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen. Specific instructions designed for your individual situation will be given to you by your cosmetic surgeon at the time of your consultation.

The Contour Threads™ Lift Procedure

The procedure typically lasts about an hour, however the actual time may be shorter or longer depending on the extent of correction desired and the number of Contour Threads™ used. Expect the procedure to be performed under a local anesthesia.

During the procedure, a number of Contour Threads™ are used by your cosmetic surgeon as determined by your body and desired result. The Contour Threads™ are positioned into specific areas of the face to gently lift sagging skin, and then are secured into place. Around each, bundles of new collagen fibres form so that the lift is maintained after the procedure.

The procedure may be performed in conjunction with other cosmetic treatments, such as an injectable filler or chemical peel. Your cosmetic surgeon can discuss other solutions with you during consultation.

Following the Contour Threads™ Lift Procedure

You will be able to see the results of a Contour Threads™ Lift procedure immediately.

Patients may experience minimal discomfort, as well as some swelling and bruising in the treated area. Medication can be prescribed by your cosmetic surgeon to alleviate discomfort, but it is typically unnecessary. Cold compresses can be placed on the area(s). Your cosmetic surgeon may advise you to avoid sleeping on your stomach, as additional pressure on the face may adversely affect the results of the Contour Threads™ Lift procedure.

Patients may return to work within a few days.

Results of a single procedure typically last anywhere from three to five years.
