Microdermabrasion vs. Dermabrasion

They sound the same, but actually microdermabrasion and dermabrasion are two very different cosmetic surgical treatments. While both remove layers of the skin, dermabrasion is a surgical procedure that involves anesthesia and extensive recovery time. It is designed to remove more than one layer, down to the dermis (the second layer of skin under the epidermis).
On the other hand, microdermabrasion is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that removes the very top layer of skin - that layer with the dead skin cells, dirt and grime. Although it doesn’t treat deep wrinkles and scarring as effectively as dermabrasion, microdermabrasion is consider a far safer treatment with fewer risks and a shorter recovery time. In fact, while you heal, you won’t need dressings for the treated area. Just a good sunscreen!
Most likely, you’ll need more than one session of microdermabrasion to treat those fine wrinkles and blemishes you want to get rid of. Find out more by emailing or contacting us!
