Procedure of the Month

Full, luscious lips are one of the sexiest features on a woman’s face. Why deprive yourself of the beauty of a sexy pout when there’s the noninvasive cosmetic procedure, lip augmentation…
At TCC, lip augmentation is most commonly performed with Juvederm, a nonallergenic injectable gel. The primary ingredient, hyaluronic acid, is a complex sugar found naturally in the body. With a single injection, collagen production is stimulated to boost the volume of the lips.
Length of Treatments
Each treatment lasts about 15-30 minutes. The results of a single injection can last up to a year, however “touchups” may be required to achieve desired results. But remember, too many “touchups” may lead to the over inflated lip condition known as troutpout, so don’t go crazy!
Ideal Candidates
Anyone who would like fuller lips but would prefer not to undergo invasive surgery. Injections may not be suitable for those with specific skin problems or other afflictions in the area to be treated. Please consult a medical professional prior to administration in order to determine whether lip enhancement is appropriate for you.
Anesthesia
A topical anesthetic (numbing cream) can be applied to reduce the discomfort of the injection.
The Procedure
At Toronto Cosmetic Clinic, lip augmentation is performed by an injectable fillers specialist who is also a medical professional. After the application of numbing cream, a syringe will be used to inject Juvederm into the lip area. The syringe is prepackaged and prefilled by the manufacturer to dramatically reduce the risk of contamination. The amount of Juvederm administered will depend on the extent of correction desired, therefore it may be a partial or complete syringe. Pricing will depend on the amount.
Side Effects and Risks
Any side effects are very temporary. These may include swelling, tenderness, minor bruising and redness. It is possible to hide any side effects with light makeup.
An ice pack may be placed on the treated area to alleviate swelling and discomfort, but should not be used for an extended period of time.
Recovery
After the procedure, you’ll be able to see an improvement in the volume of your lips immediately. However, some additional swelling may occur that will subside over a couple of days.
You’ll be able return to work and normal activities immediately. Avoid rigorous physical exercise and the consumption of alcohol.
Alternative Uses
Juvederm can be used for other areas of the face to eliminate or reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases.

Hi CJ,
Thank you for your question.
Injections vary in price, depending on the extent of correction desired. For a typical Juvederm injection to enhance the lips, pricing is generally in the hundreds of dollars. It can be anywhere from $200 to $600. For specific pricing, it would be best to see our patient consultant in a complimentary consultation.
