Latisse Still Not Available in Canada
In late December, the FDA approved Allergan’s Latisse, a product that helps make the eyelashes grow thicker, darker and longer. It’s available by prescription at reputable clinics across the States. According to reports, noticeable results can be achieved within 8 weeks.
Unfortunately, us Canadians are still waiting for the product to become available here. Health Canada has not given approval, yet, as research and testing is still underway to ensure its safety and effectiveness. But not to fret – Toronto Cosmetic Clinic will have Latisse as soon as Health Canada gives the green light!

I am very interested in the up and coming “Latisse” product. Please email me as soon as it receives approval from Health Canada.
Many thanks,
Brenda

Hi Brenda,
Thanks for writing.
We will let you as soon as we can!
In the meantime, MD Lash Factor may be a viable alternative. It’s an eyelash conditioner that can be applied at home (because it’s not a drug like Latisse) to help the lashes appear thicker and fuller. You can buy it online at our e-store for $169 + free shipping. Results appear in about a month.

I wasn’t aware of a product like Latisse product until a recent The Doctor’s TV show. I am very eager to try it. I wonder if it can be used for the lower lashes as well? May I also be notified when it is finally approved by Health Canada. Thank you very very much!
April 3rd, 2009 at 11:38 am
Hi Sally,
We have recently been getting a lot of comments regarding Latisse. I guess it’s really really popular!
We aren’t sure about the details of Latisse, so we wouldn’t be able to tell you if it can be used on the lower lashes as well. However, we will let you know when the product is available in Canada.
If you’re looking for something similar to Latisse, there is a product called MD Lash Factor. This product is not classified as a drug but does help your lashes appear fuller and thicker. It can also be applied to the lower lashes. If you’re interested, it is available online at our e-store for $169 + free shipping. Results appear in about a month.
April 3rd, 2009 at 11:40 am
Hi Mandy,
No problem at all! We’ll let you know asap.
April 3rd, 2009 at 11:41 am
Hi Tara,
Thanks for writing.
We will let you as soon as we can!
You will probably require a visit to a physician in order to purchase Latisse, since it is classified as a drug by the FDA. If you’d like to try something at home, there is an alternative called MD Lash Factor. It’s an eyelash conditioner that helps the lashes appear thicker and fuller. You can buy it online at our e-store for $169 + free shipping. Results appear in about a month.
April 3rd, 2009 at 8:03 pm

April 4th, 2009 at 9:00 am

Thank you for letting us know about the bottom eyelashes. We’ll have to check the product out more at the website address you’ve provided.

April 10th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
I can’t wait until this product is avaiable in canada, can’t wait to try it out. I live in Newfoundland so i guess that it will be done through prescription??
April 11th, 2009 at 11:00 am
Hi Lesley,
That’s right. You’ll have to get a prescription to get Latisse, since it will most likely be classified as a drug.
May 10th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
i have grad soon and my eyelashes are almost gone! i really need to find a way to get this product, is there anyway that we are able to buy it if we are living in canada?
May 10th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
Hi Kristen,
Since it’s not approved by Health Canada yet, you won’t be able to purchase Latisse in Canada. Sorry – you’ll have to wait until it does.
You can try using MD Lash Factor in the meantime. Results generally appear within a month, just in time for grad!

June 1st, 2009 at 9:37 am
is it better to stay with MD Lash Factor or switch to Latisse?
June 1st, 2009 at 10:20 am
Please let me know as soon as Latisse is available in Canada.
Thank You
June 1st, 2009 at 10:31 am
Hi Susanne,
No problem!
June 1st, 2009 at 12:46 pm
Hi Lynn,
Well, it’s really up to you which one to go with. Latisse is a drug that must be obtained by prescription only. Although it can be a little pricey, it has gotten a great response from users for actually being able to produce the results it advertises. MD Lash Factor can also achieve similar results, creating the appearance of longer and lusher lashes, but is less expensive and can be applied at home, without a prescription. One tube of MD Lash Factor lasts for about 4 months or more and is $169CA (available at our E-store). Latisse, not approved in Canada yet, is going for about $100-120 US for a one month’s supply. So, in the end, it really is up to you.
June 5th, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Thanks!
June 5th, 2009 at 9:22 pm

June 9th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
Hi there I would also like an email when this product is available in Ontario and do you know if standard drug plans with cover this or will it be strictly marketed as a cosmetic drug?
Thanks so much
June 9th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
Hi Noelle,
We’ll send you a notification right away.
At the moment, all we know is that Latisse will most likely serve only cosmetic purposes, which means that you’ll be hard pressed to find an insurance company that will cover it.
June 11th, 2009 at 9:40 am
Would love an email when latisse is available in Canada.
June 11th, 2009 at 7:01 pm

July 8th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Hi Joyce,
Not a problem. Have you checked out alternatives to Latisse? It looks like it’ll still be a while until it’s approved, so you might want to explore other options. MD Lash Factor is one option, and it doesn’t require a prescription.
July 9th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Hi Alissa,
I would also like to be added to the email notification list for Latisse please.
Thank-you,

July 29th, 2009 at 10:08 pm
ANY UPDATES….I AM STILL WAITING….
I wanted to get the product from a friend of mine who lives in the US.
Do you suggest I put my unpatient-self to wait, or what are the complications later on?
July 29th, 2009 at 11:17 pm
Hi MonaLisa Smiles,
No updates, yet. Can you believe it?
Latisse is a drug that requires a prescription, so we recommend you wait until you can properly obtain a prescription from a doctor for yourself.
Complications include redness and permanent darkening of the iris. Please visit their site to find out more information about the product.

Please also add me to the mailing list. I would like to know when Latisse is made available in Canada. Can I go to my regular family doctor for prescription or my eye doctor?
August 26th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Hi Nancy,
We’ve added you to our mailing list. At the moment, any licensed physician is able to prescribe Latisse in the States, however we don’t know what the policy will be once it is approved in Canada.
August 28th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
Please also add me to the mailing list, I am very interested in this product.
Thanks.
August 29th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
I’m from Canada and I’m anxiously awaiting this to be available! I have this horrible OCD habit of pulling out my eyelashes and I barely have any left! I’m hoping using this stuff will make me more aware not to touch them and give me a better chance at getting them back!
August 29th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
Hi Ann,
Of course.
August 30th, 2009 at 9:42 am
Hi Heather,
This product is a great way to make your lashes look longer and lusher, but you’ll probably have to address your habit before getting Latisse since results appear gradually.
August 30th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Please also add me to the mailing list. I would like to know when Latisse is made available in Canada. I can’t wait to try the product, do you have any idea how much longer it will take for approval in Canada? Can it take months or years usually?
Thank you in advance,
D.
September 1st, 2009 at 8:09 pm
Hi Daniela,
You’ve been added to the mailing list. We have no idea when it’ll be approved, but it has already been a very long time!

September 11th, 2009 at 10:58 pm
Please add me to the mailing list also, I have basically no lashes and have even tried extensions, but was told I couldn’t get them because they have no lashes to apply the exrtensions to
I am terribly sad, and hope to look normal soon.
September 14th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Hi, I was interested in trying this product as well. I have seen it on the TV show The Doctors and also have seen various postings on youtube of people trying the product and showing their results. I know you have the MD lash factor as a substitue, but my problem is that due to stress all of my eyelashes have fallen out and have yet to grow back. I was hoping this product would help. Any suggestions?
September 14th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Hi DAB,
MD Lash Factor may still work for you, since it’s actually applied to the eyelid where the eyelashes grow out of (rather than the eyelashes themselves). It’s even been effective in clinical trials for sufferers of alopecia areata, a condition that results in hair loss.
Anyway, there’s still no wonder on approval from Health Canada on Latisse. It’s taking them forever, it seems!
September 14th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Hi Christina,
We’ve put you on the list!
September 14th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Hi Sarah,
Of course!
September 14th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Hi Connie,
No problem at all. Have you considered MD Lash Factor in the meantime?
September 16th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
I wonder if Latisse will work for me? I always had “little eyelashes” and can’t wait to try it. Does it actually produce new hair follicles? I wonder if it would work on eyebrows too?
September 16th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
Hi Tracy,
Because it’s available by prescription only, speak to your prescribing physician about it to find out if it’s suitable for you. It’ll promote hair growth to make you”little eyelashes” longer.
If you can’t wait for approval in Canada, how about trying MD Lash Factor? This product can also be used on the eyebrows.
September 18th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Hi,
I saw Latisse being sold online. Is this from a Bristish Columbian, Canadian site and is it real? I thought you could only get it through prescription?
September 20th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Hi Nancy,
As far as we know, Latisse has not been approved by Health Canada. It is a medical product that requires a prescription.
September 29th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Please let me know when available in Canada. THankyou
September 29th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Hi Margaret,

I have a friend in Connecticut. Can he buy it and ship it to me?
Thanks
October 4th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Hi Maureen,
We’ve put you on the list.
Latisse is a prescription only drug, which means you’ll have to visit a physician in order to obtain a prescription allowing you to obtain the product.
October 6th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
Very happy to hear about this product. Can you please let me know when it is available to order in Canada.
Thank you.

October 28th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
Wow, Latisse is still not available in Canada, God its so nice to live here isn’t it?lol, I mean wow, its been a year almost and Health canada are still supposedly testing this stuff. Thanks, I would greatly appreciate that Alissa.
November 2nd, 2009 at 5:33 pm
Hi,
Is there any update as to when Latisse will be available in Canada? I’ve tried ordering it online, only to get it rejected during Customs Check!!! Bummer. Can you please let me know when this product will be approved in Canada, Alissa??? Thank you!
November 2nd, 2009 at 10:08 pm
Hi Veronika,
Thanks for the comment. It was interesting to hear that your order was rejected at customs, most likely since it is a drug that hasn’t been approved by Health Canada, yet.
We will let you know when it has been approved. By the way, did you get your money back?
November 13th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Please add me to your mailing list for Latisse. I have alopecia, and my lower eyelashes are just starting to fall out – would love to get this before they really go away. Got the eyebrows tattooed on, but no similar permanent makeup for eyelashes unfortunately!
Also – I see in a previous post you noted that Lash MD has worked for people with alopecia. Have you seen this happen directly with your clients? Thanks!
November 14th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Hi Shazia,
We don’t know who has bought MD Lash Factor and suffers from alopecia, so we can’t give you any information about its success directly from our clients. However, as you noted, it has been proven successful in clinical trials, so you might want to give it a shot!
We’ve put you on our list. Hopefully, Health Canada will approve it soon!
November 24th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
Yes, please add me to the list… Would love a notification when this is available! Exciting! Thanks!
November 25th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
Hi Stacy,

November 28th, 2009 at 12:39 am
Thanks for keeping everyone so “up to date” could you add me to the mailing list when it comes out too? Thanks!

November 30th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Hi Cyn,
Okay. I think we now have close to 100 people on our list!
November 30th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Hi Kathleen,
Sure! Please let us know how Rapidlash is. It’s always nice to see less expensive alternatives to eyelash lengthener products.
December 3rd, 2009 at 5:11 am
Please let me know when this becomes available as well! thank!
December 4th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
Hi Candy,
No problem! In the meantime, we’ve just dropped the price of MD Lash Factor, a viable alternative to Latisse to the cheapest in Canada – $159 +$12 shipping.
It’s an excellent deal!
December 9th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
have been waiting for this for over a year! Please add me to the list. Thank you
December 11th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Hi Kate,

hi,first of all i wanted to know if there’s an age limit for the use of lattisse since i’m a teenager. and please let me know too when lattisse becomes available in canada thanks
December 16th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Hi Razo,
We’re not sure if there will be an age limit for Latisse, since it hasn’t been approved by Health Canada, yet. However, we’ve put you on the list and will notify you as soon as it is!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
I am pretty sure you can get Latisse from US. Try using a parcel forwarding co. I have used a co called Shipito for getting a number of different stuff from US online stores that weren’t available in Canada. Shipito guys were very helpful and definately cheap!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Need to make my eyelashes grow after chemo treatment. I know Latisse works.
What about MD Lash Factor?
December 25th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Just get your doctor to write a prescription for off label use for the original drum Lumiga, that’s what I did in Saskatchewan – and btw – it’s flippin’ INCREDIBLE how well it works!!
It’s comes in the same package – different label, with no applicators – you can watch the “how to apply” video on the Latisse website –
Doctors write prscriptions for off label use ALL THE TIME!!!!!
December 28th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Hi Anita,
Thanks for the comment.
December 28th, 2009 at 12:54 pm

January 7th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Thanks Anita! plenty of stores don’t ship to Canada from the US, I will try to use Shipito. Great idea! and Happy New Year everyone
January 8th, 2010 at 11:07 am
Can I use a canadian prescription from my doctor and then head to the states to buy it? Anyone know? Any word on when available in Canada yet?
January 9th, 2010 at 10:30 pm
Hi Gina,
Happy New Year to you too! Let us know how it goes if you do order with that company.
January 9th, 2010 at 10:31 pm
Hi Jennifer,
No, nothing yet from Health Canada. We’re not sure if you can do that. It’s probably best if you ask your physician directly.
January 11th, 2010 at 7:18 pm
please add me to the list, thanks.
January 16th, 2010 at 8:38 pm
HI,
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN LATISSE IS GOING TO BE AVAILABLE IN CANADA? THIS WAIT IS KILLING MEEEEEE!! UGGGHHHH
January 18th, 2010 at 12:59 pm
Hi Zalah,
We understand your frustration, but Health Canada hasn’t approved Latisse, yet. How about trying MD Lash Factor in the meantime?

Does anyone know if Revitalash is as effective as Latisse??? I think you can buy Revitalash in Canada… however, the formula has been modified from its original state. It used to have very similar ingredients that Latisse has but was not FDA approved.
Please add me to the list for Latisse though. I can’t wait to try it! Thank you!!!
January 24th, 2010 at 7:28 pm
I heard that the main ingredient that is now used in Latisse has been removed from MD Lash Factor and it doesn’t have the same effect it used to. I would rather wait for latisse. Do you know when we should be expecting latisse in Canada? Thanks.
January 26th, 2010 at 1:41 pm
Has anyone in Canada been able to find latisse elsewhere? I wish I knew someone in the states who could get it for me.
January 26th, 2010 at 7:44 pm
Hi Christina,
We haven’t heard anything about Revitalash, but we’d love to! Health Canada hasn’t approved Latisse, yet, but when they do, we’ll let you know.
January 26th, 2010 at 7:56 pm
Hi Zalah,
We’re not sure what you’re referring to, however Latisse uses a drug as the key ingredient, which is why it is classified as one. MD Lash Factor uses something different and is not considered a “drug” by Health Canada. We’ve had great feedback on MD Lash Factor.
We have no idea when Health Canada will be approving Latisse, but we will certainly let you know when they do!
January 26th, 2010 at 8:04 pm
Hi Mariam,
Health Canada has not approved Latisse, yet, which is why it is not available at physicians’ offices. We can put you on our mailing list if you’d like, so that when it does get approved, we’ll let you know asap.
January 27th, 2010 at 3:04 am
Yes I would like to be notified when latisse becomes available in Canada. Please do let me know. Thank you.
January 28th, 2010 at 11:23 am
Please add me to your mailing list for when Latisse is available in Canada. Thanks!
January 29th, 2010 at 10:05 am
Would love to be notified as well when latisse becomes available in Canada. Thanks.
January 29th, 2010 at 12:24 pm
Hi Alissa,
You can find more information on Revitalash’s website.
They had to rename the product as a conditioner instead of a lash growth serum because it used to contain a higher amount of bimatoprost (don’t quote me on that though). You can find tons of reviews online as well as product comparisons between Revitalah and Latisse – they both have their pros and cons. If you do decide to carry Revitalash, please let me know as I don’t think Latisse will be available anytime soon.
Thank you! – Christina -

Hi Lisa,
Sure!
January 29th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Hi Beverley,
Ok. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’ll be any time soon!
January 29th, 2010 at 4:40 pm
Hi Christina,
We’ll check out the site, however we are leaning more towards Latisse rather than Revitalash. MD Lash Factor in a similar category as Revitalash, in that it is also a cosmetic product rather than a drug.
January 29th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
OMG, why is getting is product so impossible??? Can’t someone just go to the States and get a lot of it, come back to Canada and sell it? I will be the first person to buy and I’m willing to pay more.

Hi,
I was wondering if Latisse helped grow your eyelashed back? Or does it just make the stronger and thicker ? I had this problem when i was younger with pulling out my eyelashes, and after a while they started to not grow back and im left with some, but it takes alot of mascara and eyelash curling to make them noticable.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Hi Amanda,
Latisse and MD Lash Factor can help with individuals who have experienced a slow growth of their eyelashes. Studies have also shown that these products can also help when there are no eyelashes. As long as the follicle is still in tact, it should be okay.
February 4th, 2010 at 2:28 pm
Hi Alissa,
I am really interested in the Latisse product. Has it been approved? I have a thyroid problem and I seem to have episodes when eyelashes fall out and become very sparse. So this product might be the answer to my frustrating problem.
Please e-mail when you available. Thanks.
February 4th, 2010 at 10:54 pm
Hi Jeannette,
Latisse has not been approved, yet. We will put you on our mailing list!
February 5th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
Please me add me to the list for notification if Latisse is approved in Canada.
Thank you.
February 6th, 2010 at 11:06 am
omg… So, it is not available in Canada yet, as I assumed. I thought this product was sketchy at first. And the side effect is crazy, (might turn your light eye colour to brown) although, my eyes are light brown, so I don’t have to worry about that.
I saw this product and 2 others on Weekend Today show this morning. Lady, who tried Latisse on said, she’d give 10/10 The photo shown were incredible!
My question is, (since this product costs $150USD/month) how long do I have to use it for? Do I have to continue to use it after I reach the goal?? I know I need to use it at least for 2,3 months, but how about after that?? (wow, I realized, that’s a lot of money)
February 6th, 2010 at 2:38 pm
Hi Bonnie,
No problem!
February 8th, 2010 at 2:23 am

February 8th, 2010 at 11:59 am
Hi Crystel,
Sure, no problem!
February 8th, 2010 at 12:03 pm
Hi Naoko,
According to the manufacturer, you’ll need to keep applying it to maintain results, however if you stop your eyelashes will grow back to normal within a few weeks or months.
You may want to consider MD Lash Factor as an alternative. It’s $159+shipping in Canada for about a 3-4 months supply, then you just need to apply it once or twice a week after you’ve achieved desired growth in a month or so.
