Dimensions of the Perfect Face

February 24th, 2010

It was bound to happen. Researchers at the University of Toronto, led by Professor Kang Lee, have discovered the formula to create the “perfect face”.

While we all know that an attractive female face includes full lips, big eyes and a smaller nose, now there’s a formula. Perfection is about  the following measurements: the distance from the eyes to the mouth should be 36% of overall face length (which is measured from hairline to chin) and if you measure the distance between the pupils, it should be 46% of the width of the face (measured from ear to ear). This is for the average face only and hairstyles or makeup can be used to create the optical illusion of achieving these “perfect” measurements.

So who’s been blessed with perfection? Move over Angelina Jolie, Adriana Lima and Gisele Bundchen – it’s Shania Twain!

The study included students, who were asked to rate photographs of women’s faces. Photos of the same woman, but with different measurements for length and width altered by photoshop (not by cosmetic surgical procedures like facial implants and injectable fillers), were laid out for the students to be rated for attractiveness. Facial features, such as the nose or eyes, were not modified.

However, the study was only conducted on Caucasian (white) women and men, therefore it does not include a majority of the world’s population. And since it only targeted width and length, we think research still has to be done on the “perfect” size of lips, nose and other features.

Katie Couric’s View on Botox

February 22nd, 2010

Okay, so Katie Couric isn’t really known for being a big celebrity or fashionista, but we thought we’d share this with you anyway.

Katie, journalist and anchor for CBS News, gave a nod to Botox in the March issue of Harpers Bazaar, saying, “I think if you want to do some tweaks here and there, there’s nothing wrong with that.” However, she continued to say that, “God has a wonderful way of making your eyes start to go as your face does,” implying that Botox to correct wrinkles from aging may not be necessary.

We wonder if she’s gotten anything done herself. Already in her mid 50s, Katie’s forehead looks pretty smooth, although her eyes do have telltale crinkles. Whatever she’s doing, it’s working – she and her thirtysomething boyfriend.seem pretty content with each other.

VASER® Liposuction Toronto

February 19th, 2010

Experience the Beauty of Change™ at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic with the VASER® Lipo System, a “third generation ultrasound liposuction technology” that allows patients to undergo body contouring surgery safely, effectively and accurately.

VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance, liposuction technology that can precisely extract small to large amounts of fat with the ability to enhance skin retraction, achieving a smoother and more consistent contour. Coupled with reduced blood loss and tissue-selective emulsification, this type of ultrasound liposuction treatment maintains the safety and comfort of the patient, minimizing pain and bruising to expedite recovery. The technology is suitable for areas that can be more difficult to target.

The fat removed with the assistance of the VASER® Lipo System can be used for fat transfer.

Perlane® for Deeper Facial Folds

February 17th, 2010

Aesthetic medical companies know that injectable fillers provide a great way for individuals to smooth out lines and reshape contours without undergoing surgery. In a procedure that takes up to 1 hour (depending on the number of areas treated), wrinkles disappear, folds fill out and the shape of facial features can transform subtly or dramatically with little to no downtime and far fewer risks associated with surgical treatments. That’s why Toronto Cosmetic Clinic is proud to offer another great dermal filler product, Perlane®.

Perlane® is considered the feistier sister of Restylane®, another hyaluronic acid based filler manufactured by Q-Med. This dermal filler is designed to fill out those deeper folds that Restylane® affectively cannot, as well as redefine facial contours and features, whether it be for the lips, chin or cheeks.

If you want to have more luscious lips, a stronger chin, fuller cheeks or get rid of those deep folds running across your forehead or around your mouth, then call TCC at 416-221-5554 to book your free consultation with our patient consultant. Pricing is $550.00 for a full syringe and half is $350.00.
