Procedure of the Month
This month’s newsletter is devoted to, what most believe as, the best part of a woman’s body: the breasts. And for many, bigger is better, which is why we’re showcasing breast augmentation as the featured procedure.
Breast augmentation can often achieve results that look better than the real thing. But don’t just take our word for it. Visit our breast augmentation photo gallery for before and after photos and see for yourself.

Length of Surgery
Depends on the type of incision through which the implant is inserted and the placement of the implants. Both factors are also affected by the type of implant selected, whether saline or silicone. Saline implants are filled to the desired volume after placement. Incisions may be placed in the armpit, under the breast in the inframammary fold, in the belly button, or around the areola. Scars from periareolar incisions tend to be the least prominent when done well. Placement of implants may be subglandular or submuscular. Surgery usually lasts up to 3 hours.
Anesthesia
Local or General.
Breast Implants Available
There are saline and silicone implants available in different shapes, sizes and textures. Choose from a teardrop or round shape, volumes of 250cc and up, as well as a smooth or textured surface.Choose from a teardrop or round shape, volumes of 250cc and up, as well as a smooth or textured surface.
Side Effects
After the anesthesia wears off, there may be soreness. Some swelling and bruising are also typical. Pain medication is prescribed to alleviate discomfort.
Risks
Like other procedures, breast augmentation also has its own set of risks and complications. Although considered rare, risks include bleeding as well as more bruising and swelling than predicted. The chance of risks can be minimized by following your cosmetic surgeon’s instructions before and after surgery.
Recovery
Depending on the size of the breast implants selected, their placement, and the incision, expect to be back to sedentary work in a few days. Exercises to massage the breasts are performed to help with recovery. A compression garment is worn immediately following surgery and is eventually replaced by a supportive sports bra to expedite recovery.
