Slow Down!
A recent study conducted by scientists at Osaka University has linked eating fast with being overweight.
Researchers studied 3,287 participants in two Japanese communities. Of the 1308 who reported eating quickly, it was found that women were about two times as likely to be overweight while men were 84% more likely. The findings were published in the British Medical Journal.
This isn’t good news for many of us who already don’t have enough time to savour our cuisine. But just keep this in mind: when you don’t have the luxury of leisurely dining on a well balanced meal, chewing each morsel of food thoroughly until it totally disintegrates in your mouth, it doesn’t give you the feeling of being full. Therefore, you are much more likely to snack or have additional meals to satiate your appetite.
Here’s the equation:
eating slowly and savouring each bite=better digestion, better nutrient absorption and less food consumed before you feel “full”
