Estrogen and Lips

Genetics does determine whether you’ll be blessed with full lips or not, but it is higher rates of estrogen that has been pinpointed as the main contributor to a sexy pout.

Estrogen, the female sex hormone, is produced mainly in the ovaries and contributes to the development of fuller lips as well as other uniquely feminine facial features, such as bigger eyes, smoother skin and a bone structure that supports a smaller nose and less chiseled chin or smoother jaw line. In fact, some women may find that their lips appear fuller when estrogen levels are at their highest, around the time of ovulation.

As one of the primary erogenous zones on the body, the lips feature a great number of nerve endings that make it extremely sensitive to their surroundings. Research has shown that they slightly swell when sexually stimulated.
