The flailing economy south of the border has begun to take its toll on the cosmetic surgery industry. With a possible recession in sight, people have been cutting back on spending, and one of the first things to go to maintain a stringent budget is undergoing cosmetic surgery treatments.

Fortunately, the economy isn’t doing so bad up here in Canada, allowing many people who want to improve their aesthetic appearance to do so without qualm.

In a recent study by Swedish researchers, the number of fat cells in the human body were found to remain consistent since childhood. The study also showed every year in adulthood, 10% of fat cells die but are replaced with new ones. Since obesity and fat are two areas of intense interest at the moment, these are pretty significant findings that are rocking the scientific world.

Which brings us to liposuction. The researchers are also exploring whether the number of fat cells would be affected by liposuction. Currently, we know that any fat cells removed by this cosmetic procedure can’t generally be replaced by the body. When they’re gone, they’re gone forever. Hopefully this new study will support this.

Women have been battling cellulite for years. While Endermologie is a preferred treatment for those unsightly dimples these days, this cosmetic innovation has only been around since the late 1970s, gaining international reputation a decade later.

Years before Endermologie, women in Europe dealt with cellulite by less technological means. They went to a masseuse to knead that cellulite away.
