Liposuction Study Underway

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Colorado Denver is examining how dietary fat is distributed in women following liposuction.

All the women in the study are pre- and post-menopausal, and have a tendency to store fat on their hips and thighs. Half of them will undergo liposuction in the lower body in order to determine if and how the procedure affects fat metabolism.

It will also prove whether women who store fat in the thighs are indeed healthier when compared to women who store fat in the abdomen and flanks.

The researchers are still looking for participants, however women who undergo liposuction as part of the study will be asked to cover the costs of surgery.
