Subcutaneous Fat

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

If you want to eliminate unwanted fat on your body, current surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures available today target fat cells only in the subcutaneous layer.

What is the subcutaneous layer?

The subcutaneous layer lies underneath the two top layers of the skin (epidermis and dermis). Mainly comprised of adipose tissue and collagen fibre. Also known as fat, adipose tissue in the subcutaneous layer acts to insulate the body.

Subcutaneous fat removal can be performed surgically by liposuction and a tummy tuck. Nonsurgical fat removal can be performed by UltraShape™.

Lipoatrophy

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Lipoatrophy is a medical condition that refers to the loss of localized fat tissue in the subcutaneous layer. It most commonly occurs on the face, particularly in the cheeks, but can also occur on the arms, legs and buttocks.

Lipoatrophy is related to some types of medication. Some people may also experience it as they age.

If you suffer from lipoatrophy, injectable fillers may help improve facial contours that have been ravaged by the condition. Please call us at 416-221-5554 for more information.

Fat and cellulite be gone!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Want to get rid of fat or cellulite without surgery? It may be hard to imagine, but it is possible at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic.

No More Fat

In just a couple of sessions, you can reduce the size of your love handles, saddlebags or pot belly with UltraShape. This fantastic new procedure uses therapeutic ultrasound technology that targets fat cells in the subcutaneous layer and disperses them so they can be reprocessed by the body.

Each session starts from $800 depending on the size of the area being treated.

No More Cellulite

Endermologie is a noninvasive method of cellulite reduction. It can also tighten the skin to a certain degree following traditional forms of liposuction. The procedure is essentially a deep massage to stimulate targeted areas so that trapped toxins and fluids can be released and eliminated by the body’s natural waste system.

Each session is $85.00

Reduce the Swelling

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Following any type of eyelid surgery, whether it be to create a crease in the upper eyelid, reduce puffiness, or eliminate sagging lids, there will be some swelling that occurs. This is a typical side effect of this invasive cosmetic treatment and is part of the normal recovery process. Your physician will recommend some ways to reduce this swelling.

Some ways that may be suggested include placing cooling aids gently on the eyes, such as ice packs. You may want to avoid using things that are totally frozen, as this may impede recovery and adversely affect your eyes. Use chilled things instead. Another way to reduce swelling is to keep your head slightly elevated while lying down. This prevents fluids from pooling in the area of the eyes.

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Always look tired even though you aren’t? Does your face look dull no matter what? Your eyes may be the reason.

If you’ve got sagging and droopy eyelids, or lack a double eyelid, it can take away from the overall desirable aesthetic of your face. Eyelid ptosis is a result of several factors, most commonly the signs of aging and the impact of gravity. Eyelid surgery is perhaps the most effective solution.
