The Perfect Pair of Jeans For You

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Timeless and versatile, practically everyone we know owns at least one pair of jeans.

But for those of us with big bums, wider hips and a little belly flab, jeans aren’t the most flattering articles of clothing. Slip on a pair and you’ll probably find that your problem areas look worse. The softest of denim can cut into folds and rolls that you didn’t even know you had, highlighting spots that you’d rather keep hidden away from the critical public eye.

The perfect pair of jeans – is this an impossibility?

Absolutely not! There is a “perfect pair” out there for you, and you probably won’t need UltraShape or liposuction to feel comfortable in them.

Big bums and ample hips
The secret to avoiding that pear shaped look is to pick bootcut jeans, where the legs slightly flair at the bottoms. Choose plain pockets with little embellishment, since you don’t want the area highlighted. Stick to darker colours for that extra slimming effect.

Bellies
Muffin tops aren’t fashionable. Choose darker coloured jeans that have one incredibly important feature: a wide waistband. The waistband will help create the illlusion of a cinched waist. Plus, it’ll provide extra tummy control.

Short legs
Skinny jeans work best for shorter legs, as they elongate their appearance. Add a pair of sexy heels to amplify the effect.

Chunky thighs
Tight jeans are a definite no-no, since they’ll just cling to your thighs and make them look bigger. Choose straight legged, relaxed jeans in any colour. You’ll appreciate the coverage and roominess.

Summer Hair Trend 2009

topknot

A perfect hairstyle for the sticky days of summer.

Hair succumbing to heat, leaving it flat or frizzy? Stay chic. Sweep all of your strands up away from your neck and face and tie it up into a sexy top knot – the hottest hairstyle for the season. The top knot is a take on the classic bun, but instead of putting it at the back of your head, position it on the top of your head or off to the side (above an ear). Slick it all into a stylized bundle or leave it messy for that I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-and-I-still-look-this-good look.

Big Butt Coverup

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

whitedressGot a big butt that just doesn’t look good in anything you buy? Liposuction can help minimize the size of that booty, but you can also try wearing clothes that are appropriate for your body type.

Put away those shapeless dresses and baggy pants – here are some must-haves for your closet:

Dresses: Think A-Line. Dresses that are smaller in width at the top then flare out in the skirt are perfect for big booty girls.

Tops: Keep the eye attracted to the upper part of your body (well away from your butt!) by choosing tops that have intricate detailing and designs. Make sure tops don’t bunch around any part of your derrier, since it’ll only add to the protrusion.

Bottoms: Pants with a high waist will only make your butt look bigger, so opt for lower waists and legs that slightly flare at the bottom. Avoid pants with fancy back pockets, or any detailing that draws the eye to your butt. Stick to solid colours for that slimming effect.

Trends for Spring 2009

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Spring is finally here! Fashion trends are marked by the ultrafeminine in an easy, breezy style that accentuates comfort.

Luxuriously soft and wickedly sexy, silk is back. Silky dresses and tops in a single colour graced the catwalks for Spring 2009. Pick a hot colour like silver, gray or gold, and don’t forget the shoes. Comfortable ballet slippers with a gentle silk or satin exterior complete the look.

Unfortunately, though silk feels fabulous, it is unforgiving. It has a tendency to press against the skin with every movement, highlighting those lumps and bumps you’d rather keep hidden.

Bet you’re glad you kept up your diet and exercise regimen through the winter. (And if you didn’t, it’s still not too late to get a little liposuction before the summer!)

The Slimmer Suit

This season, the slimmer suit is in for men. With a snugly fit jacket and the pants a little more unforgiving to those unattractive bulges, the new suit features a streamlined silhouette and clean, crisp lines. Gone are those bulky jackets and baggy pants, which may seem like a punishment for some of you carrying around a few extra pounds. But it’s not.

If you’re a little on the hefty side and aren’t willing to go for liposuction just yet, find yourself a good tailor to make the suit for you. They’ll help hide the extra weight, and still make you look good.
