Will a tummy tuck jeopardize my chances of getting pregnant in the future?

Dr. Yaz says:
Tummy tucks remove skin, subcutaneous fat and tighten the abdominal muscles. The procedure does not target the female reproductive system and won’t affect your chances of becoming pregnant in the future. However results may be reversed, because the stomach does have to accommodate the size of the expanding womb. Excess weight gain can also affect results.

Because of the time and cost, as well as the invasive nature of the procedure, it might be better if you wait until after planned pregnancies to undergo a tummy tuck.

During my second pregnancy, my rectus abdominus split and although I have very little stretched skin “left over”, my belly button has sunken. Can a tummy tuck be done to repair just the split muscle?

    Hi Christina,

As mentioned in the article, a mini tuck is when only the lower and smaller portion of the stomach is corrected. This typically requires less incisions as well as less downtime.
