I have tons of stretchmarks on my stomach. Is there any way to get rid of them without having surgery?

Stretchmarks are caused by skin that has been so quickly lengthened due to weight gain, pregnancy, puberty, or other factors, that the dermis tears. Stretchmarks result because the top layer of skin is no longer supported by the damaged dermis.

You said that with laser skin tightening the appearance of stretch marks can be eliminated. I was wondering if that is true of older stretch marks or only newly formed ones?

Does your clinic offer the Fraxel Laser Treatment that is now being used for stretch mark removal?

The device we use for laser skin tightening for the removal of stretchmarks, the Starlux 500, works on the same premise as the Fraxel. Both devices emit laser energy in the form of narrow columns. This allows for faster healing and recovery time for the effective removal of stretch marks.

Thank you for your question.
Laser skin tightening is most effective when removing newly formed stretch marks. While newly formed stretch marks may gradually disappear with treatment, the appearance of older stretchmarks may not be entirely eliminated. Their appearance may only be noticeably reduced.

The number of sessions required really depends on the stretchmarks.
An informal consultation may be held over the phone. If you’d like, you can call our patient consultant so you don’t have to come into the clinic since you live so far, and speak to her directly about the stretchmarks you’d like to have removed. You can also try emailing photos of your stretchmarks to the patient consultant so that she can better assess your situation.
