Breastfeeding with Implants

Alissa from North York writes:
I’m thinking of getting breast augmentation. Can I still breastfeed if I ever decide to have another baby following the procedure?”

Dr. Yazdanfar says:
The majority of women have no problem breastfeeding with breast implants, whether saline or silicone. However, it is important to note that a periareolar incision can increase the risk of nerves and milk ducts getting damaged or cut, affecting the ability to breastfeed.

Before you decide to undergo surgery, make sure your surgeon knows that you’re considering a future pregnancy. That way, you and your surgeon will be able to decide on the best course of action for your body.
