If you purchase your skincare products online, you’ve probably noticed that many products are priced lower south of the border. You may find that a product in the States is cheaper than the cost of the same product sold here in Canada.

Unfortunately, buying outside of Canada may not always save you money. Why, you ask? Well,  there are 3 major reasons.

1. You’ll have to pay an import duty when your order passes across the border, in an amount that is mainly determined by the price of your purchase.

2. You’ll also have to pay GST.

3. You may have to pay brokerage fees, which can be quite expensive when certain  shipping companies are used.

On top of that, your shipping charges may be high.

These somewhat hidden fees can be costly and in the end, you may not be saving money by buying online from American e-stores.
