No Link Between Breastfeeding and Breast Sagging

A recent survey conducted by the University of Kentucky found that breastfeeding did not have any impact on breast ptosis. Ptosis is the technical term for sagging.

The study surveyed 132 women of an average age of 39, who sought treatment for ptosis through a breast lift or breast augmentation. 93 of the 132 were pregnant at least once and 58% breastfed.

The researchers who conducted the study, Dr. Brian Rinker and colleagues, concluded that, “Breastfeeding does not adversely affect breast shape, beyond the effects of pregnancy alone.”

Rather, other factors were blamed for breast sagging. These included aging, smoking, a higher number of pregnancies, and larger breast size before pregnancy.

An Even Better Version of Smartlipo

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Cynosure, the manufacturer of the Smartlipo LaserBodySculpting(SM) Workstation, has added a new and improved device to their Smartlipo line of products.
In addition to the current 6 and 10 watt Smartlipo LaserBodySculpting(SM) Workstation available, the light-based aesthetic treatment system manufacturer has added a new model that works at 18 watts, improving on the current model available.

An 18 watt workstation will drastically shorten the length of treatment times for a single area during the laser assisted liposuction procedure. For example, 35 minutes is the typical length of time the abdomen requires with the 6 watt workstation. The 18 watt workstation would cut this time almost by a third, taking only about 12 minutes.

The workstation has not been added to the list of products appearing on Cynosure’s website, yet.

New Testimonials

Some more clients rave about Toronto Cosmetic Clinic in video testimonials.

Michelle, Heather, Janet, Elora, and Catherine have undergone a variety of treatments at TCC, and talk frankly and honestly about why they decided to undergo the procedures they chose, what happened, and why they opted for the physicians at TCC. Watching the testimonials is a great way to understand more about cosmetic surgery, from a real person’s point of view.

Pills, creams, magic lotions and…self-hynosis?

Checking out the latest in cosmetic surgical techniques the other day, we stumbled upon a website that claims the way to bigger boobs is not through breast augmentation surgery and other methods, but hypnosis.

With a simple program, patients can overcome physiological barriers by the power of the mind and actually increase their breast size by a couple of inches.

Sound too good to be true? Well, scientific research hasn’t really been able to prove the validity of hypnosis for breast enlargement, but we invite anyone who’s actually been successful with this technique to respond to this blog post. We’d love to hear from you!

Lipo for John Schneider

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Remember John Schneider, the hunky Bo Duke from Dukes of Hazzard? He also played the adoptive father of Superman in Smallville.

John, 47 years old,  admitted recently that he got liposuction in the abdomen area to get rid of a stubborn bulge that wouldn’t go away with situps.  In an interview with entertainment news show Extra, the star says, ““I went the liposuction route a couple years ago…I did 1000 sit-ups and nothing was happening.”

Trout Pout!

Okay. So most of the time the results from a cosmetic surgical procedure, invasive or not, are great. The results look natural, subtle, and the patient’s physical appearance immensely improves. But sometimes, results are far from appealing.

It could be the fault of an inexperienced or poorly trained cosmetic surgeon, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes, patients become “obsessed” or “addicted” to cosmetic surgery, and they just go too far. They want bigger, smoother, more youthful, or whatever.

Here are some words to describe when people just go too far. (These probably won’t make it into the Oxford dictionary, but who knows?)

Bat brow: a facelift that causes the skin on the forehead to be stretched too much, affecting the eyebrows.

Chiclet teeth: white, white teeth as a result of overly bleached veneers.

Chipmunk Cheeks: overly prominent cheek implants.

Frankenboobs: breast implants from breast augmentation that look too round and prominent.

Trout pout: abnormally inflated lips caused by too much injectable filler.

In any case, if they’re happy with the results, what can you say? It’s their choice, after all. However, a responsible cosmetic surgeon will not perform a procedure if they think no more “improvement” can be made, or if it threatens the health of the patient.
