Cumin?

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Distinctly aromatic, cumin is an ancient spice that is an essential ingredient in many of the world’s finest cuisines. So what’s it got to do with bigger breasts?

Well, if you’ve ever checked out the ingredients of many breast enlargement creams, lotions, and magic potions on the market today, you’ll notice that most contain cumin. Why you ask?

Some believe that cumin has the capability to increase mammary cells. However, according to Dr. James A. Duke, this has only been proven in lab animals rather than humans, which makes this more of an old wives’ tale than fact.

But hey, who needs an excuse to eat curry anyway?

Man Boobs!

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Mmmm…soft, luscious and oh-so-feminine breasts.  On guys.

On guys? Think singer Robbie Williams, celebrity Simon Cowell and the enlightened one, Buddha. Pronounced nipples and a chest with noticeable ta-ta’s that would make some women jealous. Yikes!

Man boobs or “moobs” are perceived by many as one the biggest threats to masculinity. Plus, just like for women, what’s more disturbing is that one boob might even be bigger than the other.

Though gynecomastia is common for boys around puberty, men in their latter years, and the overweight, it doesn’t make it any easier to live with. Happiness and self confidence are affected and in many cases, exercise, diet and a healthy lifestyle do not help to get rid of what is commonly perceived as an embarrassing condition. Not even those magical potions and pills advertised on television work (beware - some may even be dangerous to your health). It may sound a little scary, but the only way to really get rid of man boobs is through surgery: male breast reduction surgery and/or liposuction to be precise.

Basically, surgery follows the same general steps as for a women with large breasts. With liposuction, only fat will be removed. However, if excess skin and breast tissue also exist, a more extensive procedure is required to firm up your chest. Laser-assisted liposuction alone may also do the trick, as the skin can be tightened by the effects of the laser.

But before you think about getting rid of your male breasts with a surgical procedure, talk to your doctor or a cosmetic surgeon first. Sometimes, a more serious reason contributing to the development of gynecomastia may exist that may require attention before you can deal with your chest.

TCC’s Makeup Artist

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

As promised, here is some information about our makeup artist.

jenna1.jpg

If you’ve ever dropped by TCC, you’ve probably already met one of our friendly receptionists, Jenna. Working at the front of house for a while now, Jenna was originally a makeup artist before she decided to choose a different career path and joined us as a receptionist.

Trained at the Sheridan Institute, Jenna’s impressive resume includes working as a makeup artist for Lise Watier. While freelancing, she has worked on the set of several films and professional photo shoots, as well as provided her services to international modeling competitions and festivals, including FAME and Chin.

With this much experience in the cosmetics industry and passion to boot, we thought it would be a shame to stifle her artistry.

Jenna is available for advice in makeup and has a great knowledge of the skincare products we offer at TCC. Plus, she’s offering free makeovers for a limited time, so don’t be shy and drop by the clinic to meet her!

We are located at 5400 Yonge Street, just south of Finch on the west side of Yonge.

That’s What You Call Protection

Monday, August 13th, 2007

The sun’s harsh rays can really damage the skin, causing uneven pigmentation, a leathery complexion and acne. In fact, many believe sun exposure is probably one of the worst factors contributing to unhealthy skin.

With that in mind, the importance of sunscreen becomes obvious. And not just some wimpy one, either. You need complete protection from the sun, and who better to provide you with that than Procyte, a company devoted to the creation of products designed for skincare and health. TCC offers their advanced formula waterproof sunscreen, Ti-Silc® Sheer SPF 45, with 90% UVA block. It’s great for the most sensitive of skin, too.

And after treatments designed to rejuvenate the skin, like photofacials and laser skin resurfacing, this sunscreen is perfect to protect the skin at a time when it’s absolutely necessary.
