Did You Know…

Friday, August 31st, 2007

that silicone breast implants were invented in the early 1900s? Though these implants are totally different from today’s durable cohesive gel implants, the idea of using silicone for breast enlargement was developed by the Japanese. In fact, at one point silicone became so popular in the country that it was a hot commodity on the black market.

By the mid 1900s, silicone breast implants were introduced to America.

Personal Airbags?

While we definitely do not recommend using breast implants as a protective shield against accidents and mishaps, nor should they be used for anything other than cosmetic improvement of the breast contour, we thought these news stories were interesting.

A Bulgarian woman was saved by her implants in a serious car crash.

Acting in the same nature as airbags, the implants provided her enough protection so that her vital organs and ribs remained unscathed. Though the implants exploded and had to be replaced, she was saved from more fatal wounds. Did we mention that she was a 40DD?

Another one:

An Israeli woman was saved by her silicone implants when shrapnel from a rocket attack was absorbed by her implants. She did not suffer from deeper wounds, however it was necessary to replace the implant.

Say Goodbye to Ingrown Hairs!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Ingrown hairs are a common problem for those of us that shave, wax, and perform other traditional methods of hair removal. They are almost impossible to get rid of, and seem to get worse everyday.  In fact, these methods can even result in more forming because they can promote hair to grow sideways, rather than upwards through the skin’s surface.

But fear not! Laser hair removal can get rid of those sneaky strands by  targeting their roots, even under their protective shield of skin. Though they won’t shed after their root is destroyed because they are under the skin, they will eventually be absorbed by the body and disappear. That’s much better than ripping the skin to get to them, isn’t it?

New Photo Gallery

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

When it comes to breast augmentation, or any cosmetic surgical procedure for that matter, looking at before and after photographs is one of the easiest ways to gain a better understanding of what a procedure can achieve. That’s why we’ve recently updated our breast augmentation photo gallery, adding a fresh load of new before and after shots of our clients - with their consent of course!

And don’t you hate when there are no captions telling you about the size of implants selected and all that other useful information? Well, we’ve included a brief description for each photo so that you get the whole picture.

We’re also updating our liposuction photo gallery. Watch out for it in the weeks ahead!

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

We’re one of the busiest cosmetic clinics in the city, and even though we enjoy our work, we also enjoy everything that summer has to offer. That’s why we’ll be closing for a few days for a very short summer vacation.
