Artecoll® has safely treated over 150,000 patients throughout the world, sometimes with results lasting for ten years or longer!
As an injectable filler, Artecoll® combines folded microscopic polymethyl methacrylate beads into collagen (with an extremely small amount of lidocaine as an anesthetic). PMMA is an inert and biocompatible substance that has been safely used in many products such as eye lenses, artificial limbs, and pacemakers since the early 1930s.
A specified amount of this mixture is injected into the target areas almost painlessly during a procedure. Over a period of two to three months, each PMMA bead then gradually becomes enveloped into place within the body's own collagen, once the collagen it was folded into is absorbed first. This is how wrinkles, lines, and acne scars are eliminated. Thin lips become fuller when used for lip augmentation, and facial contours improve.
Side effects of Artecoll® are minimal and are normally restricted to those resulting from implant injections, lasting only a few days following treatment. Products containing aspirin (ASA) should be avoided.
