Dr. J.A. Hakes is an anesthesiologist at Toronto Cosmetic Clinic. He administers anesthesia during invasive surgical procedures including liposuction, breast augmentation, facelifts, and rhinoplasty.With years of experience in his field and comprehensive knowledge of anesthesia, he is a certified and licensed doctor with an international portfolio.

Dr. Hakes is a graduate of the University of Bristol in the UK, where he received his Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine. Both degrees are typically combined to be the equivalent of a Doctor of Medicine in Canada and the US. Training in anesthesia at the University of Bristol and the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff, Wales, Dr. Hakes moved to the US to become a Clinical Fellow in Anesthesia at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

From there, he traveled to Toronto to become Staff Anesthesiologist at the Wellesley Hospital in the downtown core where he practiced for 27 years. While at the Wellesley Hospital Dr. Hakes was Assistant Professor in the department of anesthesia at the University of Toronto.

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Anesthetists (FRCA) in the UK as well as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada FRCP(C).
